1,000 acre fire occurring near a U.S. Army Base in Arizona

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - A large wildfire has prompted a shelter-in-place order for portions of a U.S. Army Base near Sierra Vista Tuesday, according to KOLD. That order was given for the Black Tower area of Fort Huachuca, according to post on the installation's Facebook page.

In addition, residents of the base's Apache Flats RV Park and the nearby Huachuca City, which is north of the installation, have been placed on "set" status. That means residents should be ready to leave should it be necessary, according to KOLD.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office announced on its Facebook page that it was devising an evacuation plan for Huachuca City in case it became necessary.

The fire has burned more than 1,000 acres, according to KOLD. Fort Huachuca's social media pages indicated that the blaze was sparked by mowing and have suspended all further mowing activities.

The U.S. Forest Service was providing air drops, according to KOLD.
