Many eager to return to a reglar event

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY/AP) - COVID-19 has delayed certain events but the Arizona State Fair has returned after a one-year hiatus and has reached a record turnout of nearly 1.6 million visitors.

The fair ran from October 1 to October 30 and broke its previous record of 1.3 million visitors, which was set in 2019.

Many were excited for a returning family event after 2020's state fair was canceled due to the pandemic, although a drive-through food event was held instead.

Several artists were planned to take part in the Arizona Veteran's Memorial Coliseum but canceled due to COVID concerns.
