Funeral Arrangements for DEA supervisory special agent

Paying respects to Michael G. Garbo

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A public funeral for Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Supervisory Special Agent Michael G. Garbo is scheduled for Friday, October 8, at Calvary Chapel in Tucson.

Special Agent Garbo died Monday as a result of injuries sustained during a shooting in downtown Tucson.  

Friday’s service will honor the supervisory special agent's courage and sacrifice, while also celebrating his life as a loving husband, father, brother and federal narcotics agent.

A law enforcement procession will leave Bring’s Broadway Chapel, 6910 E Broadway Blvd. at 8:30 a.m., heading eastbound to S Harrison Rd., then northbound to Speedway Blvd., then westbound, ending at Calvary Chapel, where Special Agent Garbo’s funeral will begin at 10 a.m.

Friday’s Schedule of Events

  • 8:30 a.m. - Law Enforcement Procession from Bring’s Broadway Chapel to Calvary Chapel 
  • 9:30 a.m. – Calvary Chapel Doors Open to the Public
  • 9:50 a.m. – Final Seating
  • 10:00 a.m. – Funeral Service
  • Approximately 11:30 a.m. – Outdoor Ceremonial Honors

Organizers say parking will be limited and the lot will close prior to the procession’s arrival.  

Special Agent Garbo's family requests cameras and other recording devices not be permitted on Calvary Chapel premises.
