Amberly’s Place holds Domestic Violence Awareness Event

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Amberly's Place held Domestic Violence Awareness Event ahead of Domestic Violence Awareness Month as it is observed in October.

Over 10 local law enforcement agencies came together as Amberly's Place distributed magnets and car decals as part of their ongoing Domestic Violence Awareness Campaign.

Some agencies in attendance where the Quechan Police Department (QPD), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Border Patrol, Imperial County Sheriff's Office (ICSO), Yuma Police Department (YPD), San Luis Police Department (SLPD), Somerton Police Department (SPD), and many more.

"We're the first people that people talk to you know we want to be able to help them out, answer any questions that they may have as well," said Cesar Hernandez with QPD.

"Wearing that purple ribbon, I believe sends a message out to the community to the victims that we are there and bring some sort of justice to them as assist them when they are going through a real hard time," said Chief Araceli Juarez with SPD.

Amberly's Place says it's focused on not just helping victims in October, but 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
