Salvation Army has new location, same mission of service remainsĀ

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma's Salvation Army has moved to a new locationĀ at 445 S. 4th Avenue.

The relocation culminates aĀ four-year project with a total price tag of $2.5 million.

The Salvation Army offers many support systems for the community including a utility bill program, religious services, as well as food boxes.

Lt. Johnathan Herzog who oversees the operations of the Salvation Army YumaĀ location said, ā€œWe work hand in hand with community partners to address those urgent needs and a good example of that is what we hope to do with our feeding program we don't just want to be a hand out but a hand up.ā€Ā

With the extreme heat, the Salvation Army offers free water and serves as a cooling center.

Herzog said that their cooling center provides essential items, ā€œLike cooling towels, heat relief bags and kits and sunscreen. Weā€™re able to provide a mobile heat relief as well through water and electrolytes and drip drop.ā€

The cooling center is open Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.Ā
