Border Patrol agents found seven migrants hidden in hauling boat
TUCSON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Border Patrol agents from the Sonoita station rescued seven migrants and arrested three smugglers on January 12.
Agents inspected a Ford F-150 pick-up towing a small boat near Sonoita, Ariz. around 3 a.m. and found the seven migrants hidden in the boat.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said the pick-up's driver and passenger were both U.S. citizen men from Ariz. and were arrested for human smuggling.
Another Ariz. man who was driving a Jeep Commander in tandem with the pick-up was arrested for being connected with the human smuggling attempt says CBP.
The three vehicles were seized and taken to the Sonoita station, including the seven migrants for processing.
Migrants found were two women, four men and one unaccompanied juvenile from Mexico and were all concealed in compartments in the boat says CBP.
CBP says the migrants had no injuries despite the dangerous conditions they were in.
