Former employee says Trump had documents moved from Mar-a-Lago before FBI raid
(KYMA, KECY/ NBC News) - A Trump employee tells the FBI that the former President ordered boxes of documents at his Mar-a-Lago documents be moved before federal agents searched the property.
The story was first reported by the Washington Post.
According to a source familiar with the matter, the employee was working at the residence in Florida and is now cooperating with the Justice Department.
The individual has been interviewed multiple times by federal agents and the FBI also has surveillance footage showing a staffer moving boxes out of the storage room.
The agency conducted a court-approved search of the residence on August 8th, seizing more than 11,000 documents including about 100 marked as classified.
The employee initially denied handling sensitive information or boxes at Mar-a-Lago, but the FBI found evidence that prompted investigators to go back to the witness, who revised their story to say that Trump had given instructions to move the boxes.
