Oregon woman’s killer takes a plea deal instead of going to trial
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The man charged with the death of an Oregon woman has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.
Originally set for trial, Jorge Aguilar took the state's plea offer this week, admitting to the death of Kirstin Fish, shot and killed in November 2020.
However, the plea agreement comes with a stipulation that Aguilar has a prison sentence for 25 years to life.
The two allegedly had a relationship before Fish moved to Oregon, and then Aguilar convinced her to take a trip to Yuma while vacationing in Arizona.
That's when the murder took place. Forensics tied Aguilar to the murder using the footprints found at the scene. Sentencing starts November.
