Border Patrol agents seize cloned Border Patrol vehicle
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - On Sunday, September 25, El Centro Border Patrol (BP) agents arrested a U.S. citizen and seized a cloned BP vehicle.
Moreover, in a press release, the incident occurred at approximately 6:25pm.
In addition, the El Centro station's Remote Vehicle Surveillance System Operators observed and notified the agents.
Through the cameras, the cloned BP vehicle headed north near Exit 6 and drove eastbound on Highway 98.
From there, the agents responded and conducted a vehicle stop. However, the cloned BP vehicle continued on.
Apprehending the suspect
To stop the vehicle, an agent successfully deployed a Controlled Tire Deflation Device to slow the vehicle down.
After that, the agents approach the vehicle, but the driver bolted and hid in a brush. However, he was apprehended.
Upon confirmation, the agents arrested the 18-year-old driver and seized the cloned vehicle.
“This is yet another example of our zero tolerance for smuggling and illegal entry” said Chief Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino.
“I am so proud of El Centro border security professionals who make it awfully hard on smugglers to ply their trade here!”
