San Luis hosts Founders Day Parade after three years

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - On Saturday, September 24, the San Luis Parks and Recreation presented a parade in honor of Founder's Day.

Obviously, this is the first time San Luis held a parade since 2019.

Correspondingly, the City of San Luis wanted to honor their 43 years in a big way.

"It brings the community together such as agencies, such as schools. Other participants are from Yuma County and Somerton," Lizette Varela, Recreation Coordinator of the City of San Luis, spoke.

Also, the parade honors Hispanic Heritage Month, which starts from September 15 to October 15.

For further context, September 15 is a day where Latin American countries celebrated their independence.

Not only that, Mexico and Chile celebrate their Independence Day on September 16th and 18th respectively.

Nevertheless, on October 1, the City of San Luis will host a festival, continuing the Founder's Day celebrations.

The festival starts at 6:00pm and ends at 11:00pm.
