YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The City of Yuma is offering sand bags to the community and will have a self-serve sandbag filling station at the east parking lot of the Yuma Civic Center due to upcoming additional monsoon activity this weekend.

The sandbag filling station will be at the Yuma Civic Center, 1440 W. Desert Hills Drive starting at 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. everyday from Thursday, September 8 to Saturday, September 10.

The City of Yuma says the sandbag station will be stocked with sand and bags for self-filling until supplies last, after 8 p.m. there will be limited bags and sand available on site.

Shovels will also be available but the City of Yuma advises the community to bring your own shovel, residents are also allowed only five sandbags per vehicle.

If there are power outages, the City of Yuma said that a cooling center will be available at the Yuma Civic Center.
