White House unveils effort to ease supply chain issues
(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - The Biden Administration announced Tuesday new actions to alleviate supply-chain issues at U.S. ports, waterways and freight networks.
It's the Administration's approach to implementing the newly-passed, but not yet signed, bipartisan infrastructure bill.
The plan includes, among other things, new construction projects for coastal navigation, inland waterways, and land ports of entry.
It will also include flexibility for port grants through the department of transportation to solve supply chain disruptions.
The announcement comes days after the bipartisan package passed congress and one day before president Biden's trip to the port of Baltimore to promote the bill.
According to a senior administration official, implementation of the plan is already underway, even though the measure has not yet been signed.
Also Tuesday, the President spoke with the CEO's of Walmart, UPS, Fed-ex and Target about steps to strengthen supply chains and build on steps already taken.
