IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)-Imperial County Health Officer Dr. Stephen Munday will provide a COVID-19 update for the county Wednesday.

Imperial County executive officer Tony Rohuotus will also be joining Munday.

The two will discuss the county's road map to recovery.

The county is currently in the lower risk phase of stage two.

One of the criteria for the county to advance into a higher risk stage is for local hospitals to be able to handle a minimum 35% surge of COVID-19 cases, in addition to providing non COVID-19 patients with care.

Both county hospitals announced this week that diverting COVID-19 patients to out of the county hospitals is a possibility.

EL Centro Regional Medical Center said it diverted 7 patients Tuesday, due to a spike of COVID-19 cases at their hospital.

Tune in to 13 On Your Side at 4 p.m. as Alexandra Rangel speaks to county officers about allocating resources for local hospitals.
