Border Patrol agents seize weapons and meth at I-8 checkpoint
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY)-Border Patrol agents seize weapons and methamphetamine at the Interstate 8 immigration checkpoint.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) say last Friday, agents encountered a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban with three people. They were sent to secondary inspection after a canine alerted to the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle led agents to discover a backpack with 918 grams of meth valued at approximately $4,600. Agents also found a loaded .380 caliber handgun in the pocket of the front seat passenger. a 9mm handgun from the vehicle's glove compartment was also retrieved.
CBP says the driver, an 18-year-old woman, the 57-year-old man riding on the front seat, and a 60-year-old man are charged with possession of a controlled substance.
The drugs and firearms were seized.
