Crowds protest stay-at-home order on California beach
LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Protesters across California continue to express their opinion on Gov. Gavin Newsom's stay-at-home- order.
About 150 people gathered at Laguna Beach on Saturday to protest, advocating for the immediate reopening of California's economy.
Many waved US flags and Trump flags were visible as crowds gathered on Laguna Beach, calling on Newsom reopen California.
This protest follows Gov. Newsom's closure of Orange County beaches last week, as Newsom said he wants to prevent a repeat of last weekend when California beaches were packed with people.
KNBC reports police say the protest was peaceful and there were not reports of arrests.
Since the beginning of May, multiple states like Arizona have announced either a partial reopening or are in the process of making such plans.
However stay-at-home- orders in heavily-impacted states like California, New York, Washington and Louisiana remain intact.
So far, there have been 53,732 confirmed cases in California, along with 2,192 deaths.
