Yuma barbershop owner frustrated at AZ extended stay-at-home orders
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A local barbershop owner expressed frustration over the extension of Governor Doug Ducey's stay-at-home orders on Wednesday.
Jesse James, owner of The Barbershop in Yuma says he feels like he can do his part by keeping his clients safe from the coronavirus.
James continues expressing his frustrations by not being included with the businesses that are set to open by mid-May. He said that he is fully prepared to keep his clients safe, and has purchased medical grade cleaning supplies to sanitize after every client.
It doesn't just stop there, he plans on implementing strict rules for his customers. Including a sanitation station for those who walk through the door based on their appointments. Other plans include new linen and towels for each client.
On Wednesday, Governor Ducey announced that he will allow some retail businesses to re-open Monday with more openings planned by the end of next week.
Ducey expects to allow restaurants to partially reopen in about two-weeks.
In a video posted after the Governor's announcement, James claims that he plans on opening his doors like he originally planned, May 1st, which was when the original stay-at-home order was set to be lifted.
Currently any business that defies the stay-at-home order faces a fine of up to $2,500 and up to six months in jail. But James said desperate times comes for desperate measures and he's willing to take that chance.
