City of Yuma now accepting application for emergency rental assistance

Program helps tenants with trouble paying rent

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The City of Yuma announced Tuesday it is now accepting applications for its Emergency Rental Assistance program.

The City Council approved the program on April 15 It provides $370,000, from community development grants, to help Yumans who've lost their income due to the coronavirus outbreak. This includes those who were laid off, furloughed, or suffered a severe reduction in work hours.

Applicants must live in a property they rent. They must also meet HUD income guidelines. Persons already receiving payment assistance vouchers or coupons are not eligible.

To apply, fill out the online form, and return it to the City, along with all requested documents. For help, you can email Neighborhood Services, or call 928-373-5187. Neighborhood Services staff can provide documents to prospective applicants who do not have computer or Internet access.
