Dash cam captures moment of impact

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A dash camera captured the moment a car slammed head-on into another vehicle on a Phoenix freeway.

The collision happened at 3 Saturday morning on the Loop 202 South Mountain freeway.

State troopers say a car was heading north in the southbound lanes when it slammed into a truck. The driver of that car was killed in the crash. The driver of the truck he hit survived.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says there are plans to install driving detection systems and thermal cameras along the freeway to prevent future wrong-way crashes.
