Released from jail, $50,000 bond lifted.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Vista High School student arrested for bringing a gun to school appeared before a judge Friday where we learned he was not formally charged.

When that 18-year-old high school student stood before the judge, his eyes were teary as he heard the words released come from the judge's mouth.

Wednesday, Yuma Police arrested the student on two charges of carrying a weapon on school grounds and carrying a deadly weapon under the age of 21.

However, in Friday's brief hearing, both of those charges were dropped.

The judge ordered the young man's release and lifted the $50,000 bond previously held in place.

As we reported, the Yuma Union High School District claimed it didn't see the incident as a threat and parents were not notified.

The 18-year-old didn't get off completely scot-free, this case could still be reviewed by the city prosecutors' office.
