Mayor Silva delivers state of the city address
EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)-Newly appointed mayor Efrain Silva delivered the annual state of the city address Thursday morning.
Silva says the city is doing amazing and there's a lot to look forward to in 2020.
He discussed new business development the city has brought as well as new businesses underway.
A new Hilton, 7-Eleven, and restaurants are expected to break ground this year.
Revitalizing the city's downtown area is on top of the list. Silva said La Resaca restaurant will be opening a location downtown and other businesses are in the works.
A major issue Silva will tackle is residential housing.
"Only nine homes, residential homes were built this year. We need to bring more residential housing," said Silva.
We also asked the mayor about the homeless problem the city is facing.
'It's county issue and the homeless task force is working to find smart solutions to help the homeless population," said Silva.
