Officials warn of text messaging scam
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY)- Officials have a warning for online consumers - beware of scammers pretending to be from FedEx.
Nationwide hundreds of people are falling victim to the scam. People are receiving messages asking to click on a link to "set their delivery preferences." But, the link isn't what it claims to be and people are getting ripped off.
FedEx in Yuma confirms locals are potential targets.
The Better Business Bureau of Yuma County recommend people to avoid scams by doing the following:
- Contact FedEx if you receive a suspicious call, text, or email asking you to select a delivery option.
- Do not share personal information to any unknown callers, especially if you are NOT expecting any packages.
- Report these calls to your local B.B.B or law enforcement.
FedEx is urging people to report any of these scam messages to abuse@fedex.com.
