Man accused of shooting woman in her home makes court appearance
The man Yuma police say went into a home and shot a woman on Christmas Eve made his first court appearance Thursday afternoon.
Martin Alberto Ochoa, 33, was read his charges. He is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
Police say they responded to reports of shots fired Tuesday at 4:12 p.m., inside a home in the 2300 Block of S. Carol Ave.
The initial investigation revealed that one woman was shot inside her home. The victim was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Police arrested Ochoa Wednesday just before 5 p.m. after a short standoff with officers.
He was booked for misconduct with weapons and possession of a weapon by a prohibited possessor He will be back in court next Monday.
