Yuma County Board of Supervisors announces 2020 Chairman
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - Chairman Tony Reyes has been re-elected to lead the Yuma Country Board of Supervisors (YCBOS), while Martin Porchas will serve as the Vice-Chairman.
The vote was held Monday at YCBOS’s final meeting of the year.
For Reyes, being the chairman for next year reaffirms he’s doing a good job. Adding that people on the board have different personalities and philosophies.
“Navigating that is sometimes a little delicate but I think I’ve done a good enough job that they will consider leaving me as the chairman and they have,” Reyes said.
This is the fourth year in a row Reyes (District 4) will serve as the chairman. Porchas (District 1) will be replacing Russell McCloud as Vice-Chairman.
Looking ahead to next year, Reyes already knows what the focus will be on.
“We do have a lot of roads we need to update and maintain better,” Reyes said. “We do have a lot of street signs and street lights, just safety in general.”
Another area for improvement is in regards to facilities. Reyes said they will look into a new building for YCBOS meetings and administration.
His term starts on January 1, 2020.
