Heavy rain brings high water to Phoenix
Second day of storms bring second day of problems
PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY/NBC News) - Strong thunderstorms pounded the Phoenix area on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Heavy rains turned streets into rivers. Drivers found themselves stranded in rising waters.
Flash flooding, lightning strikes, and high winds remained major concerns. The Phoenix metropolitan area is under a flash flood warning until 9 p.m. Wednesday night.
Forecasters also warn of blowing dust and the potential for hail.
Temperatures are also expected to drop dramatically. That makes snow a real possibility in the higher elevations.
Rainfall totals for Phoenix for the past 24-hours could top totals for all of the 2019 monsoon season.
