Donations pour in for homeless singer

A viral video is giving a homeless singer a new lease on life.

A Los Angeles police officer shot a video of Emily Zamourka singing in a subway station last week.

The video went viral, and now donations for Zamourka are pouring in. In fact, some $70-thousand has been raised in her name on GoFundMe sites.

The 52-year-old singer is originally from Russia. She used to make ends meet by teaching music lessons, and playing her violin on the street. Several years ago, someone stole and smashed her beloved instrument.

Zamourka then fell behind on her rent, and eventually got evicted. She then took to singing to raise whatever money she could.

The video has generated a swell of goodwill for the singer. Most donors say they want to help her find both a new apartment and a new violin.
