One San Luis barricade suspect released
A Yuma County judge orders the release of the suspects in Sunday’s standoff in San Luis.
Judge Juan Guerrero set the man free because the Yuma County Attorney did not file an official complaint against him. However, prosecutors can still file a misdemeanor charge against him up to a year later, or a felony charge within seven-years.
Judge Guerrero had these words of wisdom for the man before releasing him: ” I am going to sign the release papers and you’ll be released out of custody today, you stay out of trouble you understand that? ”
The man simply nodding and giving a stern ” yes your honor ” .
The other man, Carlos Salas-Diaz now faces three felony counts including misconduct involving weapons, unlawful discharge of firearms and endangerment.
13 On Your Side was able to confirm with the San Luis Justice Court that Salas-Diaz is currently employed by the Department of Correction. We weren’t able to obtain specific information on where specifically Salas-Diaz works.
He remains in custody and his cash bond is set at $20,000. H e’ll be back in court in early October.
Prosecutors says Salas-Diaz barricaded himself in a home in San Luis on September 22nd . Police say he was armed with a semi-automatic weapon.
