Arizona city becomes first in the region to raise minimum vaping age

An Arizona city becomes the first in the region to raise the minimum age for buying vaping products from 18 to 21.

The Goodyear City Council also voted unanimously Monday to pass a ban on the sales of electronic cigarettes, as well as related devices and products.

Under the new measure, smoking and vaping would be prohibited at schools, school events, as well as at public parks and hiking trails.

Violators could be fined as much as $2,500 depending on the number and gravity of the offenses.

Police have 90-days to educate the public on the new law before it takes effect.

The ordinance comes in response to the sudden appearance of vaping-related illnesses. There are three such cases in Arizona right now.
