Homeowners evacuate in face of wildfire near Prescott

A wildfire near Prescott forces homeowners and campers alike to evacuate the area.

The blaze is burning about eight-miles south of Prescott near Lookout Mountain.

It broke out around 2:15 Sunday afternoon. So far it’s blackened more than 200 acres.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Deputies says it served evacuation orders on some 25 homes, as well as on nearby campgrounds.

The fire’s burning in brush, pinon and timer. The cause remains under investigation.
