Border Patrol arrest Yuma man after finding over $240K of meth in car

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a Yuma man after smuggling 105 pounds of methamphetamine on the Interstate 8 checkpoint, Thursday.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Wellton Station agents saw a black 2012 Jeep Wrangler traveling through a common smuggling routine.

Agents conducted a vehicle stop and a canine alerted to an odor coming from the vehicle. Agents said they searched the vehicle and discovered approximately 105 pounds of methamphetamine, worth $241,500 hidden inside a duffel bag in the spare tire.

Agents said the driver, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen from Yuma, was arrested for the transportation of a controlled substance.

The vehicles and drugs were seized.
