Bond raised for teen accused of starting playground fire

The Yuma teen accused of shooting at three police officers and starting a fire at the Vincent Wolfe Imaginary Playground had his bond increased at a court appearance Wednesday morning.

Kane Xavier Perez’s lawyer wanted a judge to remove his 250,000 dollar bond stating he was just 13-years-old when he was arrested.

Prosecutors disagreed and said Perez is a threat to society and the community. Two victims involved in the officer shooting incident were present and agreed with prosecutors.

Judge haws sided with the prosecutors by keeping the original bond. He also added an additional 100 ,000 dollar cash bond for the wetlands park incident.

Perez now has 2 cash bonds totaling 350,000 dollars and is set to be back in court in October.
