Contigo recalls millions of water bottles
Contigo recalled millions of Kids Cleanable Water Bottles on Tuesday due to it being able to detach, posing a choking hazard to children.
The base and cover of the clear silicon spout will always be black according to Contigo . You can find the Contigo brand printed on the rim along the front, and at the bottom of the bottle.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission stated on their website, ” The water bottles come in three sizes ( 13 ounce , 14 ounce and 20 ounce ) and four bottle colors (solid color, graphics, stainless steel and stainless steel solid colors). The water bottles were sold individually as well as in two-packs and three-packs. ”
Consumers are recommended to immediately stop using the recalled bottles and contact Contigo for inspection instructions and a free replacement lid.
Contigo reports that they have received 149 reports of the spout detaching, and 18 of those were found in children’s mouths.
These specific water bottles were sold in Costco, Walmart, Target and other stores throughout The United States, Mexico, and Canada. They were also sold online, on several websites from April 2018 through June 2019, for between $9 and $24.
