Small dog found abandoned inside bag by a canal in Yuma
A small black pug was discovered inside a tote bag by the East Main Canal on Monday Morning.
According to the Yuma Police Department, a passer-by was in the area of the 1400 block between 8th Street and 16th Street when they found the bag at around 8 a.m.
Officials with the Yuma Police Department describe the pug as an older female wearing a blue harness.
The dog has an injury to its left eye and was taken to the Humane Society of Yuma to be treated by the veterinarian.
YPD says the veterinarian who treated the dog could not determine if the injury was caused intentionally or accidentally. Because their large eyes bulge, pugs are prone to a variety of eye problems, including proptosis.
