Yuma man’s murder unsolved 21 years later

In this week’s cracking the case, we take you back to a homicide that happened more than two decades ago.

A 24-year-old man shot twice and left for dead, and to this day there is still no justice.

Angie Rosales, the Rosales and Frailes families said it still feels like yesterday in a statement to News 11:

” Jesus ( Chuy ) Rosales Frailes left us too soon. He was a son, brother, uncle and cousin. He has been gone for over 20 years. And to the family, we feel like it was just yesterday. We would like to thank the Detective who worked the case. Chuy was missing for 3 months and the Detective did not give up until he found him. The family would like to thank you for keeping his memory alive. ”

Jesus Rosales was reported missing in 1998 on July 13, and was found dead the next day in Mexico.

The Yuma Police Department ( YPD ) is still looking for answers 21 years later as to what led to his murder, and who is responsible for the shots fired across the border.

Mexican authorities found Rosales shot once in the arm and once in the chest.

Rosales was last seen at a home near 5th Avenue and 16th Street in Yuma around 10 p.m. the night before his murder.

” He did have a pager that was left at the residence. There was a vehicle there that he had driven to the residence in, but he had left it, so he didn’t leave by his vehicle. So it could’ve been on foot, or he could’ve been picked up by somebody, ” said Sergeant Lori Franklin.

YPD said it was not until almost two months later when Mexican authorities contacted YPD through another law enforcement agency with proof that Rosales was murdered.

YPD said they have interviewed several people in connection to the case, but no arrests have been made.
