YUHSD finance department receives prestigious award

Yuma Union High School District’s finance department was given the highest form of recognition by receiving an award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States ( GFOA ).

The finance department was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from GFOA . It is said to be the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting.

YUHSD was notified of the award with a personal letter from GFOA director, Michele Mark Levine, where he says, ” Attainment [of the certificate] represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. ”

“Our relationship with our families, community stakeholders, and department of education is built on trust and honesty,” YUHSD Superintendent Gina Thompson said. “Transparency in all facets is something that we pride ourselves on at YUHSD because it is vitally important for our stakeholders to know how we are using our resources.”

At the end of the 2017 fiscal year, YUHSD’s finance department was awarded a certificate of excellence from the Association of School Buisness Officials International.
