Series of thefts reported on Ocotillo Drive in El Centro
A series of break-ins in El Centro have residents on high alert.
Neighbors on Ocotillo Drive have reported two thefts in the last two weeks and residents believe the two are connected.
The victims of the break-ins posted footage online from their security cameras, in hopes that someone would recognize the suspects.
Both thefts happened on Ocotillo Drive, the latest one, occurred just two days ago.
One of the videos posted online shows a woman with long red hair, allegedly sneaking out of a garage carrying two bags and tools.
She exits the garage, and a man in a gray Dodge is waiting outside for her. The man helps her place the items in the car, and they drive away.
The owner of the home says the woman in the video seems to be the same woman with red hair, that broke into his neighbor’s house on Wednesday.
” All the neighbors have talked, and we are all in agreement. We have always watched over each others houses but now with more reason we will be more vigilant, ” said Esperanza Santoya , resident of El Centro.
Santoyo has lived in the neighborhood for over 10 years now and says nothing like this has ever happened before.
” I’m always keeping a close eye on things, I love gardening, so I’m always outside, but that day I didn’t see them. They were probably watching closely. These are people that have no morals at all, ” said Santoyo .
Earlier this week, Southwest High School, which is also located on Ocotillo Drive, reported a break-in on their campus. School officials said hundreds in sports equipment was stolen from their school.
It’s unclear if these break-ins are connected but, ECPD is investigating the break-ins.
