Remembering and honoring victims of mass shootings
After the tragic back-to-back mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, people are making sure their loved ones and communities aren’t forgotten.
” We tried to save him, ” said Holly Redman, a woman who tried to save Dayton shooting victim. ” I just want his parents to know that we did everything possible to save him. ”
The two communities that lost more than 30 lives total are creating ideas to honor the victims, as well as the many injured.
A sixth-grader from El Paso named Ruben Martinez started the # ElPasoChallenge , a social media movement encouraging each person in his city to do 22 acts of kindness and post them online.
In addition, organizers of a gun show in Ohio announced they would cancel the event out of respect.
These are only some of the many ways the country is trying to restore hope after tragedy.
Another way you can support the victims is by donating directly to the Public Good campaign here.
