WIFA closes an $887,500 loan with the town of Wellton

The Water Infrastructure Finance Authority of Arizona (WIFA) announces an $887,500 loan closing with the town of Wellton. According to a press release from WIFA, the project will replace a section of water distribution line along Avenue 28E and install an additional distribution line along the north side of the Wellton Canal.

WIFA said the town’s drinking water exceeds the standard for total Trihalomethanes (TTHM) which are byproducts of the disinfection process. After evaluating several alternatives, Wellton and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality determined that the installation of smaller lines would be the most cost-effective solution.

“The town of Wellton is very appreciative of all the assistance received from ADEQ & WIFA in correcting our deficiencies, and addressing our need in solving the TTHM problem,” said Larry Killman, Town Manager

WIFA said In addition to being the most economically viable option, this approach is also expected to increase overall system performance.
