Pet Club employee sets fire to store using hay

A Pet Club store in Phoenix was set on fire with 600 bales of hay by an employee.

Phoenix police said the fire happened on July 13 just before midnight, and a Jamison Lee Hargrave was seen on surveillance video starting the fire.

Police say there were 600 bales of hay that were stacked in the loading dock area against the building. The fire caused the roll-up door to collapse, which led to burned hay to fall into the building.

ABC 15 reports there was smoke damage to products and merchandise valuing to $500,000 inside the Pet Club store.

Hargrave allegedly admitted to lighting a newspaper on fire and throwing it onto the haystack. ABC 15 reports Hargrave told police that, ” he burned the hay for retaliation due to the way he was treated by management. ”
