Brush fire damages vacant building

A brush fire was reported in the area of 1st Street and 22nd Avenue on July 23 where five vacant unit apartment buildings along with several trees and bushes were on fire.

The Yuma Fire Department (YFD) said firefighters were able to quickly extinguished the fire and kept it from spreading within the building and other structures nearby.

According to YFD, the building located at 2192 West 1st Street had been vacant. YFD said the fire started in the brush near the building and is currently under investigation.

As a result of the fire, no injuries were reported.
