4.1 magnitude earthquake strikes Ridgecrest

The United States Geological Survey reported a 4.1 magnitude earthquake Tuesday morning at 12:45 a.m. near Ridgecrest, California.

The earthquake happened 26 miles from California City.

According to the Los Angeles Times, in the past 10 days, there have been 93 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.

An average of 25 earthquakes with magnitudes between 4.0 and 5.0 occur per year in California and Nevada, according to a recent three-year data sample.
