Illegal firework crossings into the United States

Thousands are preparing to buy fireworks authorities are urging the community to pay attention to the fireworks they purchase because some could be coming from Mexico that is more dangerous.

” Any fireworks that are crossed or attempted to be crossed over through the port of entry are stopped and the fire and police department are then called to verify, ” said Lt. Marco Santana, with the San Luis Police Department.

Lt. Santana said that only those who are 16-years-old or older are allowed to purchase these explosives, adding they people should only ignite fireworks within city limits.

” The legal ones in the state of Arizona that you’re able to light under parental supervision or responsible, ” said Lt. Santana.

Under the city of San Luis’s ordinance, it states that anyone under the age of 16-years-old could face civil violations.

” They can be dealt with as far as police go and to the point of being charged, ” said Lt. Santana.

The city of San Luis will be holding it’s annual Fourth of July festival Thursday night starting at 5 p.m.
