Search for body of 6-year-old Southern California boy ends
Authorities have ended their hunt for the body of a 6-year-old boy following a two-month search at a Southern California landfill.
Authorities called off the search for Duke Flores last Friday without finding any trace of him at the Victorville dump in the Mojave Desert.
Authorities say dozens of investigators, San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies, dogs, and volunteers searched about 14 million pounds of material.
The search began in April when the boy’s grandmother asked authorities to check on him at his Apple Valley home, northeast of Los Angeles.
Authorities haven’t revealed what happened to the boy but said his body was placed in a trash bin.
The boy’s mother, Jackee Contreras, and her sister, Jennifer Contreras, have pleaded not guilty to murder charges.
