Mayor Nicholls to testify on immigration in Washington
Yuma Mayor Douglas Nicholls will testify in front of the U.S. House of Representative’s Committee on the Budget on Capitol Hill Wednesday.
Mayor Nicholls is one of four that will be testifying about the benefits of immigration on the economy and the need for complete reform of the immigration system, according to a report released by the House of Representatives.
The five main points that U.S. leaders will hear are about: Immigrants foster a dynamic, vibrant, and entrepreneurial economy; Immigrants grow the economic pie; Immigrants brighten our long-term fiscal outlook; Immigrants rejuvenate an aging workforce; Immigrants and refugees are less likely to commit serious crimes; Welcoming migrants and asylum seekers can strengthen our economy and budget, according to the House Budget committee.
