Two people have been arrested after Pima County Sheriff’s Department deputies found 43 animals in unsanitary conditions inside a mobile home.

The Associated Press reported deputies responded to a call Wednesday morning of people camping in a desert area. The sheriff’s department said when they arrived, dozens of animals were found in and around the mobile home.

Andres Contreras, 43, and Joylynn Severns , 32, are being charged with animal cruelty after sheriffs found 34 cats, four dogs, and five turtles in their mobile home.

All animals have been taken to the Pima Animal Care Center.
