Border Patrol agents who were working at the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint Wednesday found 14 packages of drugs inside a vehicle’s tires.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said a 21-year-old U.S. citizen was driving a white Nissan Xterra when he was stopped at an immigration checkpoint. Agents were alerted to the car by a K-9 and sent the car to secondary inspection.
In secondary inspection, agents found 14 packages of meth and heroin hidden inside all four tires on the vehicle.
Ten of the packages had meth inside with an estimated value of $179,400.
Four of the packages had heroin that was estimated to be worth around $241,500.
Both the man and car were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
