Yuma’s thriving art scene predicted to boost tourism

Tourism is the third largest industry in Yuma, falling just behind agriculture and the military.

And no one knows tourists in our area better than the Visit Yuma team.

They held their annual membership breakfast Wednesday morning to talk about ways to bring more visitors to our area.

One of the plans this year is to highlight Yuma’s art scene, with hopes it’ll attract more visitors and a slightly younger demographic.

Looking forward to the future, local business owners, that are members of Visit Yuma, sat down to put the 2018-2019 fiscal year into perspective, reviewing the annual report of travel spending, marketing, and events.

Also, on the agenda, ways to elevate Yuma as a national travel destination.

Visit Yuma executive director, Linda Morgan, said, ” Just all the things we have going on here that we know we can bring in our target audience by talking about those things. When we’re able to bring in tourists, those are new people in the community bringing new dollars into the community. Generating new tax dollars and those tax dollars improve the lives for all of us who live here. ”

Expedia marketing expert, Lauren Clayton, also broke down the current travel trends to help Yuma better engage with tourists around the world.

There are also some great things in store for locals to experience as well, like farmers markets and art fairs coming on the first Sunday’s of each month all over Yuma County.
