Man on journey to 4000 mile trek for breast cancer awareness

One man is traveling more than 4,000 miles across the country on his bike all to support those affected with breast cancer.

Bob Hood is a San Diego native and usually has his day job in the tech industry.

Hood decided to embark on this journey about a year ago. His mother in law and a family friend were both diagnosed with breast cancer.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation says that more than 300,000 women in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer and an estimated 40,000 women are expected not to survive.

Bob has 83 days to ride 4,150 miles all the way up to New Brunswick, Canada.

He has already put in 250 miles since he started last week.

He has only trained for this for about a year.

“We’ve seen some touching and personal stories about breast cancer, just over at Geronimo’s the other night, we’ve had people join us for our monthly recap and people just gave us money for donations,” says Hood.

Hood along with his support group is welcoming others who want to join him along the way.

“We are welcoming other riders to join us on the route on our website, one of the tabs you can get a full day by day ride, you can join us for one, two, three segments however long they want.”
