Yuma Police officer investigated for sexual misconduct with minor

A male police officer with the Yuma Police Department is under investigation by its own agency after it received information alleging sexual misconduct with a minor between 2017 and 2018.

The officer is not in custody and remains on paid administrative leave until further notice, according to Sergeant Lori Franklin with the Yuma Police Department.

The allegations are still under investigation. Yuma police received wind of the information on May 22, 2019.

Neither the identity and age of the officer or the female victim has been released.

Sgt. Franklin says this case is being taken very seriously.
