CBP save a man’s life after being arrested

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents saved a life when they apprehended five illegal immigrants and two human smugglers.

Agents say they stopped a silver 2018 Ford Explorer traveling Highway 78 with seven people and identified five passengers as adult males from Mexico. The other two males were identified as U.S. Citizens responsible for the smuggling attempt.

According to agents, the 34-year-old U.S. Citizen passenger became unresponsive while being transported to Blythe station and was transported via helicopter to a regional hospital.

Agents say hospital staff says the man had suffered a stroke brought by methamphetamine use.

The driver a 31-year-old man from Fontana, Calif. was found with an extensive criminal history including burglary tools, under the influence of a controlled substance, second-degree burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle, among other charges, agents say.

During a search of the individuals and the vehicle, which agents say was reported stolen in San Francisco, they discovered a loaded .40-caliber handgun with extra ammunition, methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Agents say all illegal immigrants were processed for immigration violations and the citizens were presented for prosecution.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials welcome assistance from the community. Individuals can report suspicious activity to the Border Patrol and remain anonymous by calling 1-877-872-7435 toll free. Reporting illicit activity could result in saving someone’s life.
