“Last Call Bill” almost a reality in California

The “last call bill” could keep California bars open until 4:00 a.m. in cities across the state, and the proposal is closer to becoming a reality.

SB 58 would allow several California cities, including Palm Springs, Los Angeles, and Sacramento to extend last call hours from 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.

The bill unanimously passed the Senate Appropriations Committee on Monday.

If it becomes law, it doesn’t automatically make last call in those cities later, rather, the bill would allow cities to make the decision on whether to extend last call or not.

If this is passed and signed into law, it would go into effect Jan. 1, 2022.
